Detective Dobie: The Odyssey




Introduction: search for Dobdysseus

Many dogs tell of the great legends from the Trojan War. The one most often told is a favorite among the dogs of Fetch, a small island unheard of by humans until now, as we hear about the legendary Dobdysseus. Dobdysseus, king of Ithaca, was married to Penelbarky, a beautiful Cocker Spaniel and queen of Ithaca. Dobdysseus had a son just before he left to go to battle in Troy; his name was Telemawoof. The Trojan War lasted for years; everyone assumed that Dobdysseus was dead. During this time some cat suitors moved in to Penelbarky’s house. Telemawoof, who was now older and frustrated with the evil suitors, decided to sail to the mainland of Ithaca in search for news of his father. He went to a friend of Dobdysseus, another king named Barkstor who told him about the battle in Troy. Barkstor tells him to journey to Sparta and seek further news from Menelausdog who had last seen Dobdysseus. So Telemawoof takes ship and sails to the kingdom of Menelausdog. He journeys with Barkstor’s son to Sparta where they are greeted by Menelausdog and his wife Fetchen. She recognizes Telemawoof as Dobdessyeus’ son. “You are the one Dobdessyeus left behind when he left for Troy aren’t you?” she asked him. “It was all because of me and my passion for Paris that he is gone. He snuck into the city to save me and defeated many Trojans. He was the one who lead the attack in the wooden dog.” Telemawoof was amazed to hear these tales of his father; while on the other hand he wept for the loss of Dobdessyeus. As Telemawoof was taking in information a new threat occurred back in Ithaca. The evil cat suitors heard of Telemawoof’s journey to search for his father. They did not want the king to return or be found so they planned to ambush Telemawoof when he returned to Ithaca.
